1957 No Post BelAir This is a very original car.
Numbers matching.
Frame off restoration in 1996.
Never wrecked and no rust.
I had a 57 specialist go through the car and rebuild the carburetor and tweak the timing, rebuild the transmission linkages, tighten all of the suspension components.
The car comes to life with a quick turn of the key and drives great and it rumbles down the road.
I just had it inspected and it’s ready to get registered.
Ownership lineage: 3rd Owner.
Built in Oakland California August 5, 1957.
Purchased in San Leandro California October 8, 1957 where the car remained Purchased by a Reno Nevada man on May 6th 1992 who commissioned the full restoration.
Purchased by my father August 8th 1996 and given to me April 4th 2018.
The car shows 74,906 miles however the title when transferred from Nevada had a note “does not reflect actual miles”.
Between 1996 and 2023 the car has been stored in a garage and driven rarely (car shows, and parades [homecoming etc] and an occasional drive to a restaurant).
Originality: Numbers matching.
Original 283 CI.
Original 4 barrel Carter carburetor (rare as the components in the inside wear out and can’t be rebuilt- most owners give up and swap out with a after market) Original Gen 1- 2 speed powerglide transmission.
The reverse is all the way down in the column (which is kind of cool).
That is the cast iron casing that was a favorite of drag racers for generations.
Everything in and on the engine is original (valve covers, air cleaners etc) Original Glass and windshields Body panels are very straight and original (with 2 repairs during the resto that I can tell) Swaps and changes: exhaust systems below the exhaust manifolds (2.
5 inch pipe and dual flowmasters with chrome exhaust tips.
4 core aluminum radiator, new gas tank and new fuel lines.
Lowered 2 inches, American Standard chrome racing wheels.
BF Goodrich Radial TA’s.
“50’s in the back “70’s” up front.
Almost new tread.
Some of the chrome was replaced in the resto (rear light bevels etc) Extras: 3 of the 4 original rims (4th has been lost to time) All 4 of the original hub caps Various pieces that were saved from the restoration.
As you can see they are not perfect.
As evidence by the decision to replace them in 1996) However, if you are a purist you could repair and reinstall.
A custom sized car cover from California Covers.
Very heavy with a felt inside to baby the paint.
I know that it was around $1,500 in 1996 Various books and reference guides A 57 chevy themed ku ku clock A 1:24 scale cast model that is exact replica of the car The rest of the story: Ripped seat cover.
I priced the replacement kit at $600 for all seats on the internet.

html This is not a trailer queen.
The paint is 1996 and while very good could use a professional detailer to buff it back to a deep shine.
There is a rough spot that needs buffing at the joint of the rear quarter panel to the rear deck.
There are minor scratches and dents from getting bumped into in the garage over the years.
I have highlighted the 2 worst cases in the pictures.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
