***This position can telework 100% from any location in Texas consistent with HHS telework policies.
*** Performs highly advanced Mongo DB database administration, Maintain, and configure Mongo DB instances, comprehend, and translate business requirements into technical specification and build elegant and efficient scalable solutions based on specifications.
Implement MongoDB management service for automating a variety of tasks, including backup and recovery and performance management.
Data migration skill to migrate data from a relation database to MongoDB.
Provides high level oversight and direction where databases, and database infrastructure are concerned.
Work involves planning and scheduling as well as the defining, developing, and maintaining database system environments for agency application areas.
Works under general direction with minimal supervision.
Five to seven years of experience with skill sets mentioned above.
Essential Job Functions: Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
1.
Provides oversight into the design and building of relational databases.
Develops strategies for database software acquisitions, and maintenance agreements.
May provide strategies for database backup and recovery.
Must possess, and demonstrate extensive understanding where database design, development and data manipulate techniques are concerned.

Must have knowledge, and experience with the use of RDBMS’s, data warehouse, and understand multidimensional databases, and their structures.
Designs, implements, and supports data warehousing strategies.
Implements business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies.
Defines user interfaces and functional specifications.
Responsible for verifying accuracy of data, and the maintenance, and support of the data warehouse.

Manages the portion of the budget which concerns database vendor and software maintenance relationships and tracks the purchasing status of software purchases and software maintenance.

Assesses future information requirements in order to develop long-range, comprehensive database plan.
Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports outlining study findings and recommendations and the instructions for proposed database implementations.

Formulates logical descriptions of problems and devises optimum solutions.
Provides quality control through the application of the standards, procedures and guidelines adopted by the agency, and ensuring that user requirements are met.
Independently plans and schedules studies and system implementations for database platform changes.
Provides technical leadership including definition and proactive improvement processes/working practices within their sphere of expertise while sharing with other DBAs.
Role requires a self-motivated individual that would utilize their technical skill with a pro-active can-do attitude, flexible skill solving techniques and strong focus on quality and customer service.

Other duties as assigned.
(Note: For DSHS positions this includes but is not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of database structures and theories, current database technologies, and data analysis techniques.
Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and systems design.
Knowledge of computer operations, systems, and procedures.
Knowledge of data processing flowcharting techniques.
Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle.
Skill with the investigation and resolution of problems using strong analytical techniques, innovative approaches, and taking initiative in preventing problems.
Skill in effectively communicating information, both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups with varying technical backgrounds.
Skill in technical analysis and design, including database design and planning.
Ability to organize and plan identified tasks to meet goals and complete multiple assignments without compromising accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to independently learn new technologies and concepts quickly.
Registration or Licensure Requirements: Initial Selection Criteria: Bachelors or higher degree from an accredited college in Computer applications or related field and at least 5 – 7 years of experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA) and at least 1 year working with MongoDB, or No SQL database.
Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Additional Information: This position can telework 100% from any location in Texas consistent with HHS telework policies.
Applicants from outside Texas must be willing to relocate within 60 days of hire.
