The Rise School of Dallas provides the highest quality of early childhood education services to children with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities and to children without disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting.
The Rise Teacher is to provide the highest quality of early childhood education and therapeutic services to children with or without disabilities from 6 months – 6 years of age.
The teacher responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Treat all children with dignity and respect; Interact with children showing affection and respect; encourage the use of language and independent functioning using positive reinforcement Conduct educational assessment and collaborate with the therapy team on development and implementation of Individual Intervention Plans (IIP); Facilitate integration of children with and without disabilities in the classroom.
Utilize technology and adaptive equipment as appropriate; Plan motivating classroom activities following Rise curriculum and student IIPs by providing instruction to the children in large groups, small groups, and individually; Provide leadership assistants in coordinating and implementing classroom activities.
Ensuring they are complying with respective job requirements; Conduct parent conferences; Maintain a clean and safe learning environment, following Minimum Standards, NAEYC criteria and YMCA policies; Interact appropriately with professionals and families; Understand the implications of specific disabilities; Function as a team maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to Rise at all times; Assist in public relation events sponsored by the school; Participate in in-service and attending conferences; and Perform other responsibilities as designated by the Rise Director Job Requirements: Master Degree preferred, but must all ready have a 4 year degree in child development and willing obtain higher degree in early childhood education and/or early childhood disabilities.
Experience in working with young children and preferred additional experience with children with special needs.
Physical ability: to be able to move and lift up to 40 pounds.
All personnel are required to have documentation of physicals, and tuberculosis tests, and are strongly encouraged to have the Hepatitis B vaccination.
All personnel are required to participate in a minimum of 24 hours of in-service per year.
Must maintain Annual CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood borne Pathogen Certification, Child Abuse Training Certification & Sexual Harassment Training Certification provided by the YMCA & Rise School.
