Manager of Grants and Incentives

About This Role NORESCO has an immediate need for a Manager of Grants and Incentives to research and understand available Federal, State and Local grant programs, utility incentive programs, and tax credits & deductions for NORESCO’s municipal, higher education, industrial, commercial, and Federal customers.
The Manager of Grants and Incentives will support our sales and project development teams and function as both a subject matter expert and internal resource.
This position will report to the Vice President of Project structuring and Financing.
Key Responsibilities Research and understand available Federal, State and Local grant programs, utility incentive programs, and tax credits & deductions that can be leveraged within NORESCO’s and Carrier’s performance contracting, as-a-service, and public private partnership solutions.
Represent NORESCO/Carrier as the subject matter expert on grants and incentives applicable to NORESCO’s and Carrier’s offerings and clients.
Function as an internal consultant to Sales, Project Development and Operations & Maintenance teams for grants and incentive content for proposals and contracts.
Duties include but are not limited to: Coordinate closely with Sales and Development Teams on grants and incentives approach and assumptions used in Statements of Qualifications and in Price Proposals.
Review and approve grant and incentive aspects of financial model(s) for accuracy.
Recommend and implement model continuous improvements.
Coordinate with the Project Developer submission of grant documents and/or utility incentive applications to obtain competitive project supplemental funding and provide analysis of results.
Ensure timely and accurate follow-up documentation and agreements as needed to secure awarded grants and incentives.
Coordinate with NORESCO/Carrier legal, accounting and tax departments to obtain consent on grant and incentive approach, and corresponding accounting and tax treatment.
Review amendments to existing contracts to understand potential impact on grants and incentives and advise project teams accordingly.
In conjunction with the Directors of Project Structuring and Financing, adapt financial models to reflect impact of identified grants and incentives, and participate in analyses reviews to determine optimum approach to project funding and financing.
Maintain NORESCO’s relationship with State Energy Offices, membership organizations (such as NAESCO, NASEO, and NACUBO), utility program administrators, green banks, state public benefit corporations and utility collaboratives (such as NYSERDA and MassSave) to understand current programs, pending changes, and upcoming programs that could benefit NORESCO and our Customers.
Communicate regularly with other NORESCO departments and provide periodic training to share program details and benefits and to understand pipeline of upcoming opportunities and projects.
Maintain a tracking system of all projects to ensure compliance with grant and incentive agreement terms and timelines.
Conduct a monthly internal briefing of the grant and incentive programs, including available funding, government actions, or other factors that could impact future projects.
Assist other NORESCO departments to resolve matters related to invoicing, collection, contract modifications, etc.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree 10+ years of work experience with evaluating energy efficiency/renewable energy tax incentives, rebate programs, financial modeling, and/or energy projects Preferred Qualifications: Experience working for a State Energy Office, non-profit energy consumer group, energy project finance company, energy or utility company or Energy Savings Company (ESCO), in designing, arranging and/or implementing grants and incentives for energy efficiency and/or renewable energy projects.
Outstanding financial modeling skills in Excel, including Macros.
Prior experience in energy project development is preferred.
Undergraduate degree in finance, environmental studies, public policy, or engineering Experience reviewing financing agreements, including ability to negotiate terms and conditions with customers and finance companies.
Great attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
