Director of Interior Design

This role is located IN Dallas, TX BKV Group seeks a Director of Interior Design to lead our Interiors team at our Dallas practice site.
This position reports to the Vice President of Interior Design and partners with other regional Interior Design Directors to lead the interior design process across practice sites.
The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience working in an architectural / interior design firm and experience leading a team of Designers.
Previous experience working on multi-family housing, hospitality, government, or corporate projects is preferred.
Creative Design Leadership: Leads the Interior Design team in envisioning and executing innovative, highly creative, and inspiring interiors solutions for clients.
Responsible for overseeing the development of the visioning package for clients to establish the aesthetic direction and Interior Design Concepts for projects.
Brings design narratives to life through authentic and purposeful story-telling throughout the design process, and communicating the vision through the use of imagery, renderings and concept designs.
Interviewing / Hiring: Supports the VP of Interior Design and the VP of Professional Services by providing recommendations for required new hires and participating in the hiring process.
Staffing / Scheduling: Manages project team assignments and schedules for local interior design staff.
Coordinates with the VP and other regional Director’s for staffing/scheduling of projects across practice sites including team member availability and allocation.
Project Management Deliverables / Budgets: Collaborates with local Project Managers to comply with requirements on project deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
Mentoring / Training / Developing: Acts as a general resource for all interior design staff related to questions/concerns.
Provides mentoring opportunities for the interior design staff and advises senior leadership on training opportunities that would be beneficial for the development of interior design staff.
Coordinates with the VP of Interior Design in recommending position and leadership level staff promotions.
Business Development: Assists in business development related activities as defined by the VP of Interior Design related to the development of the Interior Design practice group revenue goals and marketing plan.
Qualifications BS or BA degree in Interior Design from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
Licensed and registered Certified Interior Designer (CID).
15+ years related experience.
Must be proficient in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
