We are seeking a building controls industry expert and strategic BMS Strategy Lead to join our team with a global client developing an industry leading smart building platform across a 40M+ SF diverse global portfolio of commercial office properties.
As the BMS Strategy Lead for this client account’s global smart building team you will be responsible for establishing the strategy and delivery approach to standardize access to building operating data from both new and existing building management systems (BMS) across the portfolio.
You will work closely with the program’s Data, Network, and Architecture to align this strategy with global OT infrastructure design standards and requirements.
In this role you will meet and work with a wide variety of global operating teams to understand specific conditions present across diverse building assets and then use that information to inform the BMS strategy and approach.
During deployment of BMS technologies you will support onsite teams to de-risk individual projects through improved access to information and technical expertise.
As BMS data is aggregated at scale, your role will be responsible for continuous improvement across BMS platforms and ensuring that end-users have the technical solutions required to operate their buildings at the highest levels of performance.
You will work closely with Design & Construction teams to create technical specifications that maintain key standards across all BMS implementations.
IN addition, this role will develop and prioritize tests with our testing laboratory to validate the BMS strategy and ensure ABI program objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities: Develop the strategy and requirements to access building operating data from a wide array of legacy building management systems (BMS) in alignment with design and performance principles developed a global program’s OT infrastructure platform.
Create global standard that guide and inform the development of construction documents such that all new installation or retrofit of BMS systems and their components align with the ABI program’s OT infrastructure requirements.
Develop the strategy and approach for enabling fault detection & diagnostics (FD&D) analytics across all GREF managed BMS systems.
Work with ABI Shipyard staff to develop test scripts for the evaluation of site and/or manufacturer integrations between incumbent BMS systems and the ABI OT infrastructure.
Develop the strategy and approach to engage with landlords in GREF leased facilities to optimize building performance using ABI developed BMS and FD&D solutions.
Create high-level (i.
e.
conceptual) design documentation to inform site specific BMS projects.
Work with GREF RE&F teams to develop strategies, documentation, and training to assist operators with operationalizing new features and capabilities made available through ABI compliant BMS installations.
Evaluate and select technologies, platforms, and service providers, considering factors such as compatibility, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through a documented strategy and global standards that optimize value delivery and balance technology investments.
Coordinate with DART’s Enterprise Architecture functions to evaluate, plan, and implement systems integrations between BMS and GREF managed applications.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in operational technology (OT), IoT, smart buildings, building controls and their respective supporting infrastructure services including network connectivity and managing data pipelines.
Leverage learnings to propose innovative solutions to enhance the program's effectiveness.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external, to foster collaboration and support the successful execution of the program.
Prepare and deliver regular reports to ABI management, providing updates on quarterly deliverables, risks, and key milestones.
Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or industry experience equivalent.
Expert level understanding of building control systems architectures, delivery, and operation for commercial real estate assets.
Demonstrated experience installing and operating BMS systems within commercial real estate environments.
Solid understanding of commercial real estate operating principles, industry challenges, and unique needs.
Strong understanding of systems design and solution architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Ability to rapidly evaluate and prioritize large bodies of work to drive program level results.
Strong understanding of data connectivity technologies, such as IoT protocols, edge computing, and cloud connectivity preferred.
Strong working knowledge and experience integrating operational technologies (OT), building controls, smart building technologies, and IoT devices within existing complex technology environments.
Demonstrated experience supporting complex projects with multiple stakeholders and delivering results within budget and timeline constraints.
Excellent leadership, written, and spoken communication skills.
Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve solution architecture issues.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Willingness to stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
