Summary: The Senior Director of Ambulatory Patient Access will lead and manage change initiatives designed to transform patient access.
This leadership position will work closely with stakeholders across the health system to establish, facilitate and lead a multi-year and multi-channel patient engagement vision that produces seamless, connected and coordinated access across a myriad of touchpoints for patients and referring physicians.
The Senior Director of Ambulatory Patient Access will oversee every aspect of patient access, including capacity management, provider template and visit type management, scheduling and referral management, and partnerships with stakeholders across the enterprise to create and sustain programs enhancing patient care.
The Senior Director is charged to lead access-focused initiatives that create and support exceptional access and service for patients and referring providers, faculty and employed providers, growth and volume management, technology advancement, and strong financial performance with superior efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities: * Oversees patient access services and operations, including capacity management, scheduling, referral management; * Partners with organizational leadership to develop metrics to measure success of performance, and to confirm that effective processes are implemented to enhance patient experience while developing an environment that encourages leadership, ownership and accountability for optimizing performance; * Provides visible leadership to patients, physicians, referring physicians, partners, leaders and employees.
Champions efforts to support the highest levels of customer experience, access and satisfaction, and collaborates with providers to spearhead patient access initiatives; * Develops and manages programs centered around patient access, establishes and monitors performance metrics, creates solutions around operational efficiency and effectiveness; * Influences others to build a solid platform for change via commitment, dedication, communication and creative problem-solving; * Drives the execution of technology solutions focused on expanding value, efficiency and transparency into performance around access.
Collaborates with IT in the optimization of access-related tools and technology; * Manages vendor relationships and supplier contracts, maintaining business effectiveness, continuity and growth while also developing organization-wide disaster recovery plans in concert with internal and external partners; * Participates in the development of strategic operational goals and objectives, and identifies long-range productivity improvement goals and opportunities within the system and the broader access to care continuum; * Creates and manages annual operating budget for each area of direct responsibility.
Conducts return on investment analyses on capital expenditures and identifies various opportunities for savings and revenue growth.
Analyzes budget variances while implementing improvement initiatives; * Provides global direction for access strategy by developing both short- and long-term patient access targets; * Communicates patient access vision and mission clearly to key stakeholders, while creating a culture that allows for change, diversity of opinion and the ability to be heard; * Develops and fulfills a refined recruitment, selection and retention strategy for organization as well as a performance management process that incorporates employee training and on-boarding, team member education and development, and opportunities for career growth among staff focused on patient access; * Oversees procedures for registration and scheduling as needed with a focus on compliance with regulatory agencies via monitoring and updating procedures as required; * Coordinates protocols for scheduling clinical services in the ambulatory enterprise in collaboration with facility partners; and * Creates and implements strategic plan that notes opportunities for process improvement, upgrades to data sharing and automation, ongoing prospects for education and training to enhance patient satisfaction scores.
WORK EXPERIENCE * At least 5 years Healthcare Leadership Experience Required EDUCATION * Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Required * Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Preferred JOB PROFILE * Typically provides leadership through multiple layers of subordinate leaders * Typical span of control: Administrative 6-8, Clinical 6-8, Support Services 6-8; e.
