Who we’re looking for The National Manager of TFSB Accounting Policy will be responsible for establishing direction, managing, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and bank-specific regulatory guidance for TFSB.
Additional responsibilities include evaluating the accounting and financial reporting implications of complex transactions and new business initiatives, evaluation of new accounting policies, updating of the accounting operations procedures manual, and training business unit team members on key issues.
The position also requires a solid understanding of complex accounting rules and bank regulatory requirements so timely and accurate guidance can be provided to key decision-makers.

Excellent communication skills What you’ll be doing As the National Manager of Accounting Policy your responsibilities will include: 40%: Ensure compliance with US GAAP and bank-specific regulatory guidance.
Provide technical accounting support to all areas of the TFSB – with specific focus on Loan Origination Fees and Costs, Allowance for Credit Losses, Transfer of Financial Assets, Leases as a Lessor, Revenue Recognition, Debt & Derivatives, Fair Value and Income Taxes Analyze new funding/treasury deal structures; advise Treasury groups of compliance issues.
Review and advise on accounting policies and procedures to ensure transactions are properly accounted for in accordance with US GAAP and bank-specific regulatory guidance.
Lead and manage the development and documentation of accounting policies to incorporate technical accounting research.
Ensure accounting and process documentation is FDICIA compliant.
Direct the implementation of applicable new accounting standards and bank-specific regulatory guidance impacting the business by ensuring they are properly understood, practically implemented, and necessary policy and procedural changes are established.
Monitor FASB, FFIEC, and other standard-setting bodies for future standards applicable to the company.
Research and consult with others in the organization to facilitate the drafting of responses to regulatory inquiries as needed.
40%: Support Business Initiatives Complete business initiatives as assigned in areas of accounting financial/regulatory reporting such as new or changing business initiatives, assistance with TFSB accounting and reporting, systems changes and implementations, etc.
20%: Other, Communication & Leadership Manage relationships with external auditors, and appropriate business group financial managers.
Drive the effort for increased automation of manual processes.
Other special projects as identified and requested.
What you bring TFS is looking for individuals with strong business sense and practical expertise.
Successful candidates should have the following qualifications: Type & Amount of Experience: 15-20+ years of total experience.
Experience should be a mix between 8-10+ years public accounting experience, serving public clientele and dealing with complex accounting issues; and 5-10+ years with a financial institution or other banking industry experience.
Polished communication skills – including an ability to listen to the needs of the business units, comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and concise manner, research complex matters, and present findings as well as recommendations in both oral and written presentations.
Highly motivated individual who can plan and prioritize workload.
Adaptive to various work environments and ability to change communication styles to fit the audience.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills Experience with IFRS a plus Big Four public accounting experience a plus Education: BS in Accounting or MA in Accounting or equivalent required MBA in Finance preferred.
Active CPA license required.
