Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist
- Provide direct patient care and support to individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities
- Help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities and tasks
- Monitor and document patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the occupational therapist
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and strategies for maximizing independence
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Proficient in medical terminology and documentation practices
- Experience working in acute care settings, such as hospitals or rehabilitation centers
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and occupational health principles
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and their applications in occupational therapy
- Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred but not required
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address patient needs and adapt treatment plans as necessary
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Detail-oriented mindset to accurately assess patient progress and document treatment outcomes
